'No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful.
Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.'
- Hebrews 12:11 (NIV)
'We must, nevertheless, always work at it, because not to advance in the spiritual life is to go back.'
- Brother Lawrence, The Practice of the Presence of God.
This sermon was a hard-hitting one for me.
If you want to live a meaningful life, you have to be committed.
I spent so many years not being fully committed. Not being fully committed to God, not being ruthless with my sin.
Accepting it, living in it.
I valued comfort over commitment. What a trap that is.
Then He said to them all, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it." - Luke 9:23-24 (NKJV)
The value of denying yourself to put God before yourself is so crucial.
I want our eyes to be open to God.
May we see God for who he is, and respond in obedience to His great love.
Our time is short. Redeem the time.
